How we construct our Garden Rooms

1. All of our builds start off by digging out a series of holes in the ground around 600mm deep, cutting 225mm diameter pipe to size and filling them with concrete. As you can see on our most recent build we dug and filled 21 holes with concrete, creating a strong and stable foundation for us to place our timber frame onto.

2. We then cut and place a heavy duty weed control membrane over our foundation and on goes our timber floor, constructed using c24 structural grade timber at 400mm centres, infilled with 100mm of sheet insulation. We then place a breathable membrane over the top of our frame before fixing and gluing 22mm flooring sheets down to the frame.

3. Once our floor is down we can really start to get stuck into building the structure of the building. Making all of our walls using 4”x2” for our stud walls, cladded in 11mm structural OSB and finally wrapped in a breathable membrane. Placing our box steel in for above the doors and fixing all of our 5”x2” joists ready for our flat roof.

4. We can then switch our focus on getting the building water tight by finishing off the roof. We add our noggins into the roof (or in this case herringbone struts) and glue and fix our 18mm OSB roof sheets. We then glue down our EPDM rubber to the roof using deck adhesive and fix all of the necessary rubber trims and upstands to seal the roof completely.

5. After this is done we are then free to focus on finishing the building, including: cladding, electrics, insulation, plasterboarding and skimming, painting and decorating, flooring and anything else you might require as we off a complete start-to-finish turn of the key experience with CHF as we stay until the job is done and entirely complete.
